Mary Ann Brown, 84, Avid Cleveland Indians Fan

Photo of Mary Ann Brown Mary Ann Brown, (nee Tomko), age 84, of Lorain, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday June 28, 2021.

Born in Lorain on December 1, 1936, she was a life-long resident of the city.

Mary Ann attended Holy Trinity Parish School as well as Longfellow Junior High and was a graduate of Lorain High School.

She had been employed as a customer care representative for Marc’s at Sheffield Center prior to retirement. Previously, she served in a similar capacity at Willow Hardware and had also worked as a candy maker for the Faroh Candy Company.

An avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Mary Ann enjoyed casino junkets and playing bingo in her free time.

She is survived by her son Bob Brown (Millissa) of Lorain, and daughters Cindy Laeng (Jeff) of North Olmsted and Debbie Gresh (John) of South Amherst. She also leaves grandchildren Adam (Emily), Brian, Amber (James), Eric (Elizabeth), John, Ryan, Brandon, Brittany, and Ciera, great grandchildren Julianna, Ethan, Benjamin, Kayla, Vivienne, Mackenzie, Landon, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Penelope, Sydney, Gianna, Brody, Viktor, Nathan, Nikola, and Rickard, and brother Steve “Chick” Tomko of Olmsted Falls.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband William M. Brown in 1979, son Bill Brown in 2003, father Steve Tomko in 1970, mother Anna (nee Hudak) Tomko in 1987, sister Helen Sacco in 2009, brother-in-law Charles Sacco in 2013, and sister-in-law Joanne Tomko in 2017.

Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be observed Tuesday beginning with closing prayers offered in the funeral chapel at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church (corner of 8the Street & Reid Avenue) at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Daniel O. Divis, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery – Lorain.

The family encourages contributions in Mary Ann’s memory to the Bill Brown Law Enforcement Memorial Scholarship fund in care of Lorain County Community College.
