Barbara A. Palinski, 67, Animal Lover

Photo of Barbara A. Palinski Barbara A. “Cookie” Palinski (nee Farlow), 67, of Lorain, died Sunday July 4, 2021 at Mercy Health in Lorain.

She was born April 1, 1954 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain resident.

Cookie graduated from Lorain High School in 1972 where she was Homecoming Queen. She attended the St Joseph School of Nursing graduating in 1974 and spent the majority of her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse at St Joseph Hospital in the Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit and Psych Ward.

Cookie was an animal lover, often taking Lola, her beloved Newfoundland, for cheerful visits at the nursing home. She loved to spend her time watching Hallmark movies, figure skating, and the Cleveland Indians. Family was always her most valued possession and focus. Cookie assumed the role of Matriarch and worked fiercely and lovingly to gather everyone to celebrate holidays and life’s triumphs together as a big family. Nothing on earth, however, came remotely close to the beaming joy and satisfaction she exuded as ‘Mama’ to her grandbabies, Laine and Ryan. From video chats to sleepovers and trips down to Lakeview Beach, being a Grandmother became her life’s purpose, and she excelled at it. Her impact on this earth leaves a lasting impression on so many, and her spirit will live on in the actions and values of countless people.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years William Palinski, son Jeremy Streem (Cat) of Kent; grandchildren Laine and Ryan Streem, siblings: Charles Farlow (Nancy) of Sheffield Lake, Karen Farlow of Lorain and Mark Farlow (Kris) of Nova, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Don Palinski (Patty) of Wakeman, stepbrother Donald Smith (Laura) of Lorain and stepsister Terri Schramm of Elyria. She was preceded in death by her father James Farlow, mother Joyce Smith (nee Falls), stepfather Donald Smith, sister Janice Prest and brother Scott Farlow.

The family will receive friends Tuesday July 13, 2021 from 4:00 pm until the time of a memorial service at 7:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Janine Smalley will be the officiant.
