Rose M. Schneider, 67, Loved to Host Family During the Holidays

Born in Lorain on March 24, 1954, Rosie was a 1972 graduate of Elyria Catholic High School.

She had been most recently employed as a receptionist for the practice of Elyria optometrist Dr. Timothy Dostall. She had previously worked as an Estee Lauder Fragrance Ambassador at Macy’s, as a 2nd grade aid at St. Vincent de Paul Parochial School, and as a customer care specialist at the K-Mart store formerly located on Fairless Drive.

Rosie became the matriarch of the family once her mother passed. She, along with her husband, served as the gracious, loving hostess and host as family members gathered during the holidays to celebrate.

She was also passionate about her vocation to provide daycare to her great niece and nephew three days a week for years. The relationships she cultivated with them during that time were filled with happiness and joy.

Rosie is survived by her husband of thirty-four years Douglas, son Michael Schneider of Sheffield Village, sisters Patricia Mate of Elyria, Andrene Schabel (Ned) of Valley City, and Annette Trockley (Bob) residing in Medina. Additional survivors include nephews Robert (Alicia) and Kevin (Summer), along with great nephew Lincoln and great niece Winter.

Rosie was preceded in death by her father Andrew S. Mate in 2002 and by her mother Rose H. Mate (nee Danicki) in 2017.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Graveside services will be conducted privately for the family in Calvary Cemetery.
