Chriss Dillon, 88, Avid Cleveland Browns and Indians Fan

Photo of Chriss  Dillon Chriss Dillon, Jr. age 88, of Lorain, passed away at his residence in the early morning hours of Sunday July 18, 2021 following an extended illness.

One of eighteen children, Chriss was born in Webb, West Virginia on March 11, 1933 and had been a resident of Lorain since May of 1951.

He was employed as a crane operator and relief foreman in the # 3 Seamless Mill at U.S. Steel Corporation’s Lorain-Cuyahoga Works. A former member of United Steelworker’s Local 1104, he retired in 1986 following thirty-five years of service with the steel producer.

An avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians, Chriss was a member of the Lorain Senior Center as well as S.O.A.R. In his free time he enjoyed vegetable gardening and walking.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years Belva M. (nee Mosley), daughter Phillis Pogorelc (Thomas) of Lorain, and son Roger Dillon (Michelle) of South Amherst. Additional survivors include grandchildren Chriss Pogorelc (Jenny), Roger Dillon (Brittani), and Gail Rottari (Anthony) and great grandchildren Maxx Pogorelc, Giovanni and Luca Dillon, and Ian, Logan, and Adrina Rottari. Chriss also leaves sisters Yvonne, Dixie, June, Regenia, Shirlene, and Liz, as well as brothers Charles and Gary Dillon.

He was preceded in death by his father Chriss Dillon, Sr. in 1970, mother Vada Dillon (nee Brumfield) in 1936, stepmother Pauline Dillon (nee Bartrum) in 2014, sisters Nina, Barbara, Mary, Ruby, Adeline, and Frieda, and brothers Roy, Fred, and William.

Graveside services will be conducted privately in Ridge Hill Memorial Park under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel.
