John D. Ritenauer, 64, Had a Great Sense of Humor

Photo of John D. Ritenauer John D. Ritenauer, 64, of Lorain, died Monday August 9, 2021 surrounded by his family at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home in Lorain after a brief illness.

He was born February 8, 1957 in Lorain and had been a lifelong resident of Lorain.

John graduated from Lorain Catholic High School in 1976 and later earned his realtor license. He worked in commercial and residential real estate for Ritenauer Realty and various other realty companies. He also did appraisal work in Lorain County.

John enjoyed spending time with his family and had coached his children’s teams in soccer and basketball. He had a lifelong Catholic faith, enjoyed music, singing and dancing and was an avid Cleveland sports fan. His sense of humor and ability to make others laugh will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his children: Chase Ritenauer (Lisa), Caitlin Perichak (Nick) and Marissa Bias (Joseph); grandchildren: Quinn, Jack, Owen, Charlie and Trey; brother Scott Ritenauer (Lisa), sisters: Lisa Given and Tami Dziak, brother Rob Ritenauer (Nicole), sister-in-law Lori Parobek and 15 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred & Rosemary Ritenauer (nee Thesing) and brothers Fred and Mark Ritenauer.

The family will receive friends Friday August 13, 2021 from 3:00-9:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. The funeral mass will be held Saturday August 14, 2021 at 10:00 am at St Mary Catholic Church, 310 8th St, Lorain with The Rev. Daniel Divis, pastor, presiding. (Please meet at the church). Cremation will follow.
