Estella Villarreal, 90, Loved Cooking for Her Family

Photo of Estella Villarreal Estella Villarreal (nee Amador), 90 of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021.

Estella was born March 13, 1931 in Bastrop, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Gaspar; daughter Olga; father Pedro; mother Santos (nee Adame); and siblings Francisco Amador, Rosa Soto, Margarita Reyna, and Lupe Lopez. She will be deeply missed by son Jesse (Joan); grandchildren Jenni (Steve Dove); Deitri (Chris Brown); Megan (Scott Jump); and Joshua Perry; great-grandchildren (her chiquitos) Quinn, Logan Dove-Villarreal and Tyson Jump; and her many honorary grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

A sweet and generous woman whose sincere kindness touched everyone who met her, Stella had many loves, including cooking for her family, jewelry, her faith, Our Lady of Guadalupe, margaritas, cardinals, word search puzzles, and sweets, but probably not in that order (she really loved sweets). She enjoyed watching her novellas, cooking shows, baseball, westerns, old movies, and Family Feud. She loved going to fiestas especially if there was dancing and music, a continuation from a youth spent going out dancing to big band music. Stella had a remarkable green thumb and loved roses, lilacs, and other flowers. She was talented at knitting and crochet, and many of her pieces won ribbons at the county fair, including a “Best of Show” award for a crocheted tablecloth.

Per the family’s wishes, services will be private. A celebration of Estella’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, take a shot of tequila in her honor.
