Edward J. Kulcsar, 93, U.S. Army Veteran

Photo of Edward J. Kulcsar Edward J. Kulcsar Sr, 93, of Lorain, died Saturday October 16, 2021 at St John Medical Center in Westlake.

He was born August 26, 1928 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain resident.

Ed graduated from Clearview High School and then served in the US Army during World War II. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal of Japan.

He worked as a welder for 20 years at Fruehauf and then worked as a salesman for over 30 years for several companies in the Cleveland area.

Ed was a founding member of St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township and a member of VFW Post # 1079 in Elyria. He served as a Boy Scout troop leader for many years and was very well liked by his scouts. He enjoyed casino bus trips, video poker, traveling, driving, football and league bowling.

The family would like to thank the staff of St Mary of the Woods in Avon for the care they showed Ed during his stay.

He is survived by his bride of 72 years Dorothy Kulcsar (nee Balcik), children: Edward J. Kulcsar Jr, Linda Kolena (David) and Evelyn Pajak (Larry); 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Julius & Bertha Kolcsar (nee Kish), brothers Steven & Bill Kulcsar and sister Elaine “Bunny” Ambrosio.

The family will receive friends Tuesday October 19, 2021 from 10:00 am until the time of the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 N Ridge Rd, Lorain. The Rev. Neil Walters, pastor, will preside. The family requests all visitors to wear masks. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where AMVETS Post #32 of Elyria will conduct military honors.
