Hector Antonio Guzman, Jr., 44, U.S. Navy Veteran

Hector was born May 23, 1977 in Lorain. He was graduate of Southview High School class of 1995. Hector served in the Navy from September 1995 until July of 2003. He was a Petty Officer 2nd Class, Sonar Technician, board, search and seizure. He was stationed in San Diego, California, then Jacksonville Florida where he served on the USS Underwood FFG36. Hector was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia then finally at the Joint Maritime Facility in St. Mawgan, Cornwall, England. Upon his discharge, Hector moved to Tampa, Florida, where he resided until 2012, before returning to his home of Lorain.
Hector lived life to the fullest and made the best of what he had. He loved to be the center of attention and the life of the party. Hector loved his family, family gatherings, and The Cleveland Browns. He was a history buff, loved SI-FI movies and memorabilia along with reading and cooking. Hector enjoyed and excelled in customer service and sales and had a passion and dedication to helping others by selling life insurance.
Hector is survived by his wife of 25 years Christine Guzman (nee Camera); his sons Gabriel A. Guzman, Lakewood and Christian Guzman of Lorain; his daughters Kayla Guzman and Olivia Camera; father, Hector A. (Sandy) Guzman of Holiday, Florida; mother Martha J. Guzman, of Lorain; sisters Lisa A. Guzman of Chicago, Illinois and Melissa Muniz (Troy) Clark of St. Cloud, Florida; brothers Michael Rojas of Lorain and Carlos and Manny Guzman both of Holiday and grandfather Francisco O. Garza of Lorain. He was truly loved by his many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many extended friends. Hector also was survived by his faithful and loyal companion of 16 years, his dog Obi.
Hector was preceded in death by his grandmothers Maria Amelia Guzman and Felicita A. Garza and grandfather Manuel Guzman.
His family will receive friends at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Sunday from 2 until his funeral service at 5 PM. Deacon, Rocky Ortiz of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by AMVETS Post 32 of Elyria.
