Mary Elizabeth Naymik, 97, Accomplished Seamstress

Photo of Mary Elizabeth Naymik Mary Elizabeth Naymik, age 97, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at home with family by her side.

Born Maria Giovanna on July 18, 1924, in New Lexington, Ohio, to Michele and MariaLucia (nee Petruzzi) Brattoli, she was the middle child of eleven. A member of The Greatest Generation, she valued family and did not shy away from hard work or adversity. She was employed at Bendix from 1944 to 1955, and was proud to have done a "man's job" assembling brake chambers for heavy equipment during the war. After raising her family, she worked at Amherst Fabric from which she retired in 1985. Mary was an accomplished seamstress, loved working in her yard, and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.

She is survived by her daughters: Cheryl (Dennis) Kershaw, Nancy (Robert) Martin, Susan (Dennis) Kopco, and Judi (Christopher) Butchko; grandchildren: Kristy (Jonathan) Fanaroff, Theresa (Mike) Smith, Greg Kershaw, Alex Martin (Kayla Rodriguez), Rob Martin (Cherry Au), and Marissa Kopco; great-grandchildren: Mason, Cole, and Brooke Fanaroff; her sister, Theresa Hardy; and brothers, John and Martin Brattoli.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 31 years, Steve Naymik, in 1984; her husband Pfc Donald S. Bell in 1945; sisters Clara Bishop and Anne Barry; and brothers Joseph, Stephen, Daniel, Anthony, and Eugene Brattoli.

Private services were held at St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain. The Very Rev. Andrew Nagrant officiated. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
