Michael A. Vrooman, 78, U.S. Navy Veteran

Photo of Michael A. Vrooman Michael A. Vrooman, age 78, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Hts.

Born in Lakewood, he grew up in Strongsville before moving to North Ridgeville in 1967.

He served in the US Navy from 1962-1964.

Michael was a Patrolman for the North Ridgeville Police Department for 25 years, retiring in 1994. From 1969-1973 and 1995-2014 he worked as an ironworker for Ironworkers Local 17.

He enjoyed boating and was a member of the Middle Bass Island Yacht Club. He also loved riding his motorcycle and horses. He operated the Rising Star Horse Farm and was active with 4-H for 12 years.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Sandra (nee Brock), daughters, Michele (Brad) Kennett of North Ridgeville, Virginia (Sascha) Macias of Cleveland, Tammy (Tom) Rice of Grafton, son, Michael “Zeke” (Kristen) Vrooman of Lorain, 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, sisters, Bonnie Dearth of Strongsville, Linda (Russ) Renz of Elyria and brother, Tony (Mary) Sandora of Strongsville.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kenny Kubit, brother, John Vrooman, sisters, beloved Jane Vrooman, Olive Broestle, Vivian Bagnell, Betty Kalhoff, parents, Dewey and Irene (nee House) Vrooman.

Friends may call Sunday from 2-5PM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Services will be held on Monday at 11AM in the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Sugar Ridge Cemetery, North Ridgeville. Military honors to be performed by VFW Post 9871.
