Iris Marrero, 87, Had a Passion for God, Family, and Helping Those in Need

Iris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and pastor. Born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico in 1934 she lived on the island until 1952 when she moved to Lorain with her father and siblings. In Lorain she met her loving husband Illuminado Marrero; they were married in 1954. They had 4 children together, Edwin, Damaris, Eileen, and Marisol. Iris and Illuminado came to know the Lord in 1973 and together they founded the House of Praise International Church in 1976.
Iris had a passion for God, family, and helping those in need. Some of her favorite things were cooking and spending time with her family, reading and studying the word of God, worshiping and serving at the church. She was a fervent prayer warrior and matriarch in the faith. Iris helped many people come to know Jesus here in Lorain County and abroad. She traveled to other countries on missionary trips and helped encourage and strengthen churches in Canada, Venezuela and Mexico. Iris loved her family with an intense passion, serving them in any way she could till the day she died. She was loved and cherished by every single person she met.
She was preceded in death by her parents Pablo and Cruz (nee Escribano) Milian, her husband Reverend Iluminado Marrero and her daughter Damaris Marrero. After widowhood her second husband Juan Rosado of Lorain.
Iris is survived by her son Edwin (Indira) Marrero of Lorain, her daughters Eileen (Gilbert) Silva of Amherst, and Marisol Marrero of Lorain brother Pablo Milian of Lorain, sister Maria Josepha Milian of Lorain and her nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours will be held at House of Praise International Church, 4321 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44055 on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. With a final service On Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 10 AM. Pastor Gilbert Silva will be officiating the service. The burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
Her family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mailed to the House of Praise office at 1875 North Ridge Road, Suit C, Lorain, Ohio 44055.
