Anthony P. Rich, 96, U.S. Navy Veteran

Tony served in the US Navy during World War II, completing basic training at Great Lakes Naval Training first in his class. Unbeknownst to him, the Navy flew his fiance Dorothy and his parents to his graduation. Following graduation, he completed medical training and became an Independent Corpsman and served the rest of his tour of duty in Alaska.
After his discharge from the Navy, Tony and Dorothy were married and he worked as a skilled machinist at Toledo Lorain and Fairport Dock Company retiring in 1978.
After his retirement, he and Dorothy spent their winters in Mississippi and their summers in Lorain. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling and had a love of sports. His family has lost a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle and will miss him every day.
He is survived by his wife Daisy Rich (nee Crump), son Kenneth Rich (Katheryn), stepdaughter Laura Doll (Robert), sister MaryJo Blumenshine (Jack), brother Charlie Rich (Toni); grandchildren: Tracy, Lori, Mandi, Dale and Jennie, step grandchild Emily Cremidis, several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy A. Rich (nee Nowicki), parents Dominic & Mary Richi (nee Duray), precious daughter Sally A. Kiesling and brothers Jerry Richi and Joe Rich.
The family will receive friends Wednesday February 9, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Lorain. Prayer services will be held Thursday February 10, 2022 at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St Mary Catholic Church, 310 8th St, Lorain. The Rev Daniel Divis, pastor, will preside. Entombment will follow in the Resurrection Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where AMVETS Post #32 of Elyria will conduct military honors.
