Richard T. Hall, 79, U.S. Army Veteran
Richard T. Hall, age 79, of Lorain, passed away at his residence on the morning of Monday February 14, 2022.He was born in Lorain on June 15, 1942 and remained a life-long resident of the city
Rich was a veteran of the United States Army where he fulfilled duty assignments attached to Battery A, 5th Howitzer Battalion as well as the 963rd Military Police Unit in Vietnam; he was the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal. At the time of his passing he was a member of both VFW Post 1662 and American Legion Post # 118 in Amherst.
Upon his return from military service, he embarked on a forty-five year career in law enforcement. He began public service as a patrolman for the Sheffield Lake Police Department and ultimately retired as a Sergeant with the Wellington Police Department. He maintained membership in the Fraternal Order of Police, the Ohio Police Benevolent Association, the Police and Fire Retirees of Ohio, and the Emerald Society.
A parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, Rich was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 1442 in Amherst; he enjoyed collecting police patches as well as coin collecting in his free time.
He is survived by sons Richard, Jr., of Vermilion, Brian of Elyria, and Christopher of Lorain. He also leaves five grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a brother.
Rich was preceded in death by his father Ralph Hall and mother Dorothy Hall (nee Plas).
Visitation will be Friday February 18th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Committal services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday February 26th in St. Mary Cemetery (7284 Lake Avenue - Elyria) with Deacon John Slatcoff presiding.
