Maria Iluminada Dueno Cruz, 98, Loved Cooking for Family and Friends

Photo of Maria Iluminada Dueno Cruz Maria Iluminada Dueno Cruz was born in Coamo, Puerto Rico on November 6, 1923, and went home to Heaven, Wednesday, February 16, 2022.

She was lovingly referred to as Titi Bidin.

Maria was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, where she had been very much involved in her younger years. She had served as a Lector and had been in the Legion of Mary and the Damas. She worked with the mentally handicapped children in the church, planning activities and the Mass for them. She would pick up the children at their homes every Saturday and take them to St. Peter’s Church for their Catechism Classes. She helped out in the kitchen and volunteered wherever help was needed at Sacred Heart. She was also a Cursillista. In Puerto Rico, Maria was a teacher, teaching fifth graders.

She loved cooking, especially for family and friends. She had a passion for gardening, and she loved dancing and sewing.

Titi Bidin was a loving wife, mother, tia, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She had a strong love and devotion for Jesus and His Blessed Mother.

Titi Bidin is survived by her sons, Angel L. Cruz, Jr., and Carlos (Ito) Cruz; daughters, Carmen Cruz-Melendez, Babe (Maria) Morsher and Ana R. Cruz, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Angel L. Cruz; parents, Quintin and Salustiana; grandsons, Darian and CJ, son-in-law, Angel L. Lopez; and siblings, Cristobal, Juan Bautista, Esteban, Carlos, Julita, Carmela, Amparo, Manuela, and Anita.

Her family will receive friends at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave, Lorain, Ohio 44055 on Sunday, February 20 from 4 to 8 PM. Additional visitation will be Monday, February 21 from 8:30 until 9:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Rev. Father William A. Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Face masks are required.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sacred Chapel Memorial Fund.
