Bela M. Tobias, 75, U.S. Army Veteran

Bela M. Tobias, 75, of Lorain, died Monday February 21, 2022 at Main Street Care Center in Avon Lake.

He was born January 12, 1947 in Lorain and had resided in Lorain most of his life.

Bela graduated from Admiral King High School in Lorain and then served with the US Army during the Vietnam War.

He worked at US Steel as a foreman in the coke plant until it was closed in 1983 then worked construction with his brother-in-law for a few years. He retired from Invacare where he worked as an assembler.

Bela was a member of Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ in Lorain. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan who liked nothing more than sitting in his recliner and drinking a cold beer while watching the game.

He is survived by his children Mitchell Tobias (Jessica) of Dublin and Jennifer Tobias of North Ridgeville; grandsons Oliver and Theodore Tobias; brothers Frank & Daniel Tobias, both of Lorain, many nieces and nephews and former wife Patricia Tobias (nee Kuehn) of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank & Frances Tobias (nee Sebastian) and sister Rebecca Tobias.

Private family services will be held with burial at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Lorain.
