Rafael Cosme, 72, U.S. Navy Veteran
Rafael “Ray” Cosme, 72 of Lorain, died early Thursday morning, March 17, 2022 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain following a lengthy illness.
Rafael was born July 28, 1950 in Lorain and was a lifelong resident. He was a 1969 graduate of Lorain High School and also served in the United States Navy, honorably discharged at the rank of E-3. Rafael worked at U.S.S./ KOBE Steel for 10 years and was also a truck driver for many years. He loved riding his motorcycle and was a member of the Familia Ryderz M.C. In Lorain.
Survivors include sister Myrna (Scott) Lawrence; brothers Hector “Barney" (Karen), Edward, Emmanuel, and Edgar (Lacy) Cosme. His extended family includes, step daughters Cecilia Schmidt and Daisy Giannuzzi, step son Frank Perez, and granddaughter Martha Santiago.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leopoldo and Virginia Cosme, sister Edna Cerchiai, nephews David and Daniel Roesel, and former wife Mildred Cosme.
His family will receive friends at Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Monday, March 21, 2022 from 9 until 11AM Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst. Military Honors will be conducted by AMVETS Post 32 of Elyria.
