Marilyn M. Mucha, 78, Enjoyed Working in Her Yard

Photo of Marilyn M. Mucha Marilyn M. “Babe” Mucha (nee Kuznar), age 78, passed away at Avon Oaks Nursing Home on the evening of Thursday April 7, 2022 following an extended illness.

Born in Sandusky, Marilyn was a life-long resident of Lorain County and a member of the first graduating class at Admiral King High School in 1962.

She held a variety of jobs throughout her working career including that of sales associate at the Smith & Gerhart Department Store, teller at the Broadway Branch of Central Bank, and as a supervisor for Action Maids. Most recently, she served as the parish secretary at St. Michael Byzantine Rite Catholic Church and St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church both in Lorain In spite of her diverse career path, her most fulfilling job was that of wife, mother, and grandmother.

In her free time she enjoyed working in her yard, refinishing furniture, baking, and playing bingo. She also was well known for taking care of all forms of stray animals including the nurturing of a newborn sparrow that had fallen from its nest. In addition, it is estimated that she had found adopted homes for more than thirty cats and dogs.

Marilyn is survived by her son Jim (Lisa) of Avon Lake, and daughter Debbie Jarvis (Kevin) of Lagrange. She also leaves granddaughters Jenna & Aubry Mucha, brother Michael Kuznar of Lorain, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years Bert E. Mucha in 2020, father Michael Kuznar in 1988, mother Mary Kuznar (nee Ceberia) in 1998, and sister Mary Ann Linna in 2006.

Visitation will be Wednesday April 13th in St. Mary Catholic Church (corner of West 8th & Reid Avenue) from 9:00 a.m. until the time of her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Daniel O. Divis, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marilyn’s memory are encouraged to the Friendship Animals Protective League – 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, Oh 44035.
