William D. Young, Jr., 64, Enjoyed Flower Gardening, Bargain Hunting, and Collecting Antiques
William D. Young, Jr., age 64, of Lorain, passed away in the intensive care unit at Mercy Health Lorain Hospital on the afternoon of Sunday May 15, 2022 following a brief illness.Born in Lorain on August 26, 1957, Bill remained a life-long resident of the city.
A 1975 graduate of Lorain High School; he received his Associate’s Degree in Business from Lorain County Community College, and subsequently earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting as well as an M.B.A. from Baldwin Wallace College.
He was currently employed as an accountant for Ken / Mac Metals in Middleburg Heights. Previously, Bill had worked in a similar capacity for the TRW Corporation in both Cleveland and Elyria as well as for the BP Corporation in Cleveland.
Regarded as a generous and all around good guy, Bill served as the Young Family historian and was always able to provide the name, date, or fact that was needed to answer any question. Continually striving to remain involved in the lives of his nieces and nephews, he enjoyed flower gardening, bargain hunting, and collecting antiques in his free time.
Survivors include his sisters Janice M. Young and Joyce Tillack both of Lorain. Additional survivors include nieces Heather Wallace and Jennifer Tillack, nephew Matthew Tillack, great nieces Kiera and Brooke Wallace, and great nephew Aaron Tillack.
Bill was preceded in death by his father William D. Young, Sr., mother Margaret Young (nee Ockajik), and brother-in-law Timothy Captain Tim Tillack.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Additional visitation will be observed in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church 4501 Clinton Avenue, Lorain on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his funeral services there at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Laurie Miller, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
