Joanne C. Burgett, 86, Avid Bowler
Joanne C. Burgett (nee Weber), 86, of Lorain, died Monday May 23, 2022 at her home.
She was born October 11, 1935 in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, grew up in Sheffield and had resided in Lorain most of her life.
Joanne attended Brookside High School for 3 years then graduated from Lorain High School in 1954.
She worked at Hills Department Store in Lorain from 1960-1969 and then at JC Penney at the Midway Mall from 1970 until retiring in 2003.
Joanne was an avid bowler and had bowled many leagues at Rebman Recreation. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, her dog and crafts. She was a member of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church and the Lorain Historical Society.
She is survived by her daughter Colleen Colgan (Jack) of Eustis, Florida, son Russell Jenkins of California; stepdaughter: Diane Zaleski (Don) of Lorain; grandchildren: Adam Jenkins, Nicole Myers (Kevin), Justin Smith (Kristen) and Jasmine Thomas; step-granddaughters: Allison and Lauren Zaleski; 24 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Dan Burgett in 1980, father William Weber and mother Mazie “Pat” Weber-Moffitt.
The family will receive friends Thursday June 2, 2022 from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Private family funeral services will be held Friday with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
