William A. Yonkof, 91, U.S. Army Veteran

Photo of William A. Yonkof William A. “Bill” Yonkof, age 91, of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday morning June 26, 2022.

He was born in Lafferty, Ohio and had resided in North Ridgeville for most of his life.

A US Army Air Corp Veteran, he served his country as a Corporal during the Korean War.

Bill owned and operated Yonkof Trucking for over 30 years and had previously worked for Fruehauf Trailer in Avon Lake for 23 years.

He had a love for farming, enjoyed traveling to Amish country and socializing with family and friends. He also was a master mechanic who loved working on cars and tractors.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years, Katey (nee Sheets), children, Donna (Mark) Hasel of Amherst, Linda (Jeff Thompson) Yonkof of Fairview Park, Darlene (Ray) McConaghy of North Ridgeville, William R. (Belinda) Yonkof of North Ridgeville, Daniel (Ann) Yonkof of Huntersville, NC, Cyndi (Brian) Athey of Parma, Sarah Yonkof of North Ridgeville, Jennifer Yonkof of North Ridgeville, ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Anna (nee Sparenga) Yonkof, grandson, Steve Kanz, five brothers, Stephen, Martin, Joseph, John and Adam Yonkof.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-9 PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held 9:30 AM Friday followed by 10 AM Mass at St. Peter Church 35777 Center Ridge Rd N. Ridgeville. Rev. Bob Franco, Pastor will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria with full military honors by VFW Post 9871.
