Michael D. Baskin, 67, Enjoyed Golf, Fishing, and Boating

He was born November 28, 1954 in Lorain, attended Lorain schools and graduated from Admiral King High School in 1973.
Mike worked at US Steel and, through the years of the steel plant’s ownership transition, he worked in several departments and studied Business Management and photography at Lorain County Community College. His most enjoyable job was newsletter editor. Through this assignment, Mike had the opportunity to work on the book Steeltown Story which celebrated the 100th year of the US Steel Mill in Lorain. Mike’s later years at the mill were spent as a crane operator until retiring in 2019.
After retirement, Mike moved permanently to his Perrysville home. He traveled frequently visiting family, friends and favorite locations. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, boating, ongoing yard and house projects and cheering on the Cleveland sports teams.
He is survived by his brothers Edward (Diane) Baskin Jr of Pasadena, CA and James Baskin of Laguna Beach, CA., sister Gayle (Richard) Payant of Dumfries, VA, former wife and good friend Kathie Baskin of Amherst and 11 wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward & Luella Baskin (nee Stiteler) and sister Carole Waring and her husband Fred and her daughter Lisa.
The family will receive friends Friday July 22, 2022 from 10:00 am until the time of the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St Mary Catholic Church, 310 8th St, Lorain. The Rev Daniel Divis, pastor, will preside. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
