Miguel Cortes Sr., 85, Loved Singing and Storytelling

He was born October 11th, 1936, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico to Jose Ramon and Carmen (nee Villanueva) Cortes.
Miguel came to Lorain as a teenager. He worked for Norfolk and Western Railroad retiring in 1986 after 34 years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel. Miguel loved spending time with his friends and family, singing, storytelling and taking care of his animals.
He will be deeply missed by his sons Miguel A. (MaryJo) Cortes, Jr, Wilson (Lamoine) Cortes, Roberto (Nancy) Cortes, all of Lorain; daughters Nelida (Manuel) Rodriguez of Lorain; Jennie (Charles) Washington of Elyria, Evelyn (Gerardo) Flores of North Ridgeville; and Josephine (Hector) Ferrer of Lorain; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and a sister Miriam Rosa.
Other than his parents, Miguel was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Agustina Cortes (nee Rosa); son Wilfredo Cortes and his siblings Carmen Roldan, Aida Cardona, and Ramon Cortes.
His family will receive friends at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, Friday, July 29, 2022, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
