Thomas G. Dembek, 71, Harley-Davidson Enthusiast
Thomas G. Dembek, age 71, of Sheffield Village, passed away peacefully in the Porter Pavilion at Avon Oaks Nursing Home on the afternoon of Tuesday July 26, 2022.
Born in Cleveland on May 29, 1951, Tom was a graduate of Fairview High School. He had been a resident of Sheffield Village since 2005 and had previously lived in North Olmsted, Fairview Park, and Lorain.
He retired as the manager of the BP Service Station on Detroit Road in Sheffield Village in 2013. Previously he worked as a manger for Speedway / Super America in Amherst. Tom had also enjoyed careers as an agent for the Western & Southern Life Insurance Company as well as a production assistant at Invacare in Elyria.
A long-time supporter of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Sheffield Village, he possessed a benevolent and outgoing demeanor throughout his life and was frequently described as a fun-loving, people-oriented person. He was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast and once journeyed to Sturgis, South Dakota for the annual Harley-Davidson rally there. Locally, he enjoyed participating in motorcycle tours and poker runs that benefited a host of area charities. In addition, he enjoyed dogs and cats and was the proud owner of numerous fur-babies through the years; Tom rarely missed an opportunity to lend financial assistance to animal shelters and animal rescue missions and was a generous contributor to veterans organizations as well.
He leaves his wife of forty-eight years Jacqueline “Jackie” (nee Schwarz), father-in-law Frank A. Schwarz of Vermilion, long-time friend and caregiver Tracey Parrotta of Lorain, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his father Stanley Dembek, mother Mary Dembek (nee Marec), sister Teri Conway, and mother-in-law Rosemary Schwarz (nee Zicarelli).
