Joseph J. Giedlinski, 75, US Air Force Veteran

He was born January 27, 1947 in Amherst, grew up in Birmingham and had lived in Lorain most of his life.
Joseph graduated from Firelands High School in 1965. He served with the US Air Force with the rank of Sergeant during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Joseph worked for the Department of Defense Cleveland office where he oversaw quality control manufacturing for businesses with military contracts. Later, he moved to Florida and worked at the Kennedy Space Center in the same capacity with the space shuttle program retiring in 2008.
He was a member of St Peter Parish in Lorain. He enjoyed working on cars, going to car shows, watching auto racing and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Donna Giedlinski (nee Scrofano); daughters: Stephanie Abrahamowicz (Adam) of Strongsville and Jennifer Jackson (Dennis) of Lorain; grandchildren: Zoe & Lucas Abrahamowicz and Gabriella & Logan Jackson and sister Barbara Passanisi of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph & Norma Jean Giedlinski (nee Waldron).
The family will receive friends Wednesday August 10, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday August 11, 2022 at 11:00 am in the funeral chapel. The Rev Craig Hovanec, pastor of St Peter Parish, will preside. Entombment will follow in the Resurrection Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where military honors will be conducted by AMVETS Post #32 of Elyria.
