David Alan Hensley, 60, Founder of Paranormal Research Group "EVP Mediums"

Photo of David Alan Hensley David Alan Hensley peacefully returned Home on Tuesday, September 6th, 2022, of natural causes.

Born on September 3rd, 1962, David spent his childhood days running with the neighborhood children on 37th street in Lorain, then graduated from Wellington High School in 1980. David poured his soul into management at Cedar Fair for almost three decades, until venturing to purchase his own fast food establishment. His last working years were spent at Nordson Corp in Amherst. In each of his professional ventures, David led by example, firm but compassionate, and inspired everyone to be “simply the best”.

He was known to many as the founder of the paranormal research group ‘EVP Mediums’, and his fierce belief in the ‘Light’ of the next world was a source of inspiration and comfort to countless people.

David was a lover of mid-century television, a master at making homemade pizza, and an avid believer in Bigfoot. He deeply treasured camping, the Cedar Point Space Spiral, and time spent in the company of friends and family. His humor was quirky and his imagination was wild, but even those qualities paled to the magnitude of his abundant heart. He truly Loved.

His departure is deeply felt by his children, Megan (Christopher) Flynn of Sandusky, Emily Hensley of Bellevue, Charles Hensley of Troy, Illinois and Adam Hensley of Sandusky, as well as their mother and his former wife Theresa Hensley of Sandusky, his grandchildren Oliver and Gwendolyn Flynn, and his siblings Ruth (John) Nemeth of Lorain and Michael (Denise) Hensley of Port Clinton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.

He was greeted in the Light by his parents, Marilyn and Charles C. Hensley and grandparents Ruth and Vernon Forrider.

A celebration of David’s Life will be held at Schaun Acres Campground, 51390 OH-303, Oberlin, on Sunday the 18th of September. The celebration will begin at 3pm with a prayer from his family, and last until 6pm. David believed that death is only a doorway, and that life should be celebrated before mourned. In that spirit, he would be honored if attendees chose to dress casually, comfortably, and brightly. Anyone who knew Dave and wishes to share their love is welcome.

Memorial contributions will be accepted and donated in his name, paying forward the memories for campers at his favorite campground.

Arrangements are by Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, 440-2778164. For expressions of sympathy and further information please see, Reidyfuneral.com.
