David H. Martin, 72, Veteran of the US Marine Corp

He was born in Lakewood and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 30 years, moving from Elyria.

David served in the US Marine Corp as a Sergeant in Vietnam from 1967-1970 with the Com F 2nd Battalion, the 1st Marine Division and Third Marine Amphibious Force. He was a recipient of a Combat Action Ribbon and the Purple Heart Medal.

He worked as a truck driver for 30 years and retired from Yellow Freight in 2007.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville, Teamsters Local 407 and VFW Post 9871 in North Ridgeville.

David enjoyed sports, especially golf, baseball, football, and hunting with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Marianne (nee Nemec), sons, David Martin of North Ridgeville, Keith (Dana) Martin of North Ridgeville, grandchildren, Maclain, Brielle and Declan Martin, brothers, Floyd (Bev) Martin, Kenneth Martin, Dennis (Jean) Martin, sisters, Bonnie (Jim) Farmer, Judy (Bill) Davis, Jane (Barry) Cupp and Traci Bennett.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Vicki McGuire, brother, Tim Gray and parents, Kenneth, and Delores (nee Thomas) Martin.

A private graveside service was held at St. Peter’s Cemetery, North Ridgeville. Military Honors by VFW Post 9871, North Ridgeville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in David’s memory are suggested to the North Ridgeville Veteran’s Memorial 37400 Sugar Creek LN North Ridgeville, Ohio 44039.
