Rita Terschak, 95, Enjoyed Getting Together with Friends
Rita Terschak (nee Smith), 95, of Lorain, died peacefully and surrounded by her family on Saturday November 26, 2022 at her home.
She was born September 26, 1927 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain resident.
Rita attended Nativity School and graduated with the Lorain High School 1945 B class. She worked at the JC Penney Catalog Center in Lorain for 14 years before retiring.
Rita was a lifelong member of Nativity BVM Catholic Church in Lorain where she sang in the church choir and was a lector. She was devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary and prayed the rosary regularly. She enjoyed getting together with her friends in the Kno-Kname Club which met monthly for lunch, dinner and playing cards.
She is survived by her children: Michaelene Hayes (William) of Clearwater, FL, Dennis Terschak (Joany) of Lorain, Pamela Koscho (Kenneth) of Vermilion, Nancy Emerick (Wayne) of Lorain, Dale Terschak (Pamela) of Vermilion and Barbara Schaefer of Lorain; 14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren (with 2 more on the way) and sister Jeannette Clotz of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Wilford A. “Wil” Terschak in 2013, parents Chester & Josephine Smith (nee Falkowski), brothers: Chester, Donald & Norbert Smith and sisters Eleanor Bialorucki and Irene Alloway.
The family will receive friends Wednesday November 30, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday December 1, 2022 at 10:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Ave, Lorain. The Rev Craig Hovanec, parish administrator, the Rev. Michael Bialorucki, associate pastor of St Paul Catholic Church in Norwalk and the Rev John Bialorucki, deacon of St Peter Catholic Church in Huron, will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
