Dolores Tenorio, 82, Enjoyed Dancing and Caring for Her Family

Photo of Dolores Tenorio On Friday, December 9th, 2022, Dolores Tenorio (née Cornejo), 82 of Lorain, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, peacefully passed away in her sleep at Avon Oaks Nursing Home.

She was lovingly surrounded by her husband and children as she made her final journey to take her place in Heaven.

She was born June 5th, 1940, in Lorain to Martin and Josephine (née Rico) Cornejo.

Dolores had so much love to give and she showed it in everything she did. This showed throughout her working years giving to the community. Dolores’ first job was working for Dr. Myer as an assistant, helping to care for patients. She later went onto work at Neighborhood House, where she ran their preschool. She finished her career working for the Lorain City Schools for 30 plus years as a cafeteria manager ensuring the children of Lorain received daily meals.

Dolores loved dancing every weekend with her husband and socializing with friends through the years as a member of local clubs. Her passion was her family which included caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cooking family meals at every opportunity.

Dolores was loved and will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Hugo Tenorio of Lorain, children Joyce (Jason Newman) Farley of Elyria, Scott (Danna) Tenorio of Aurora, and Allan (Sarah) Tenorio of Westlake, grandchildren Michael (Kayleen) Farley, Jarrod Farley, Daniel (Mackie) Tenorio, Tessa Tenorio, Alex Tenorio, Maggie Tenorio, Jack Tenorio and Elijah Newman and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Felicia Arroyo, Josephine Onuska, and Mary Lou Bertram and brother, Richie Cornejo.

She was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Josephine Cornejo, sisters Carmen Cornejo, Margaret Garcia and Catherine Ortega, brothers John Cornejo, Gregorio Cornejo, Raymond Cornejo and Manuel Cornejo.

Her family will receive friends at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, (440) 277-8164 Wednesday, December 14th, 2022 from 4pm until 8pm. Friends may all call, Thursday, December 15th, 2022 at Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Parish, 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain, from 9am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Rev. Father Neil G. Walters, Administrator will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
