Stephen J. Whelan, 72, U.S. Marine Corps. Veteran

He was born January 9, 1950 in Bradford, Pennsylvania to the late Jack and Betty (née Mihalic) Whelan.
Stephen was a 1968 graduate of Brookside High School, Sheffield. After graduation he enlisted in the Marine Corps. Where he found meaning in his life and he carried it in his heart to the end.
He retired from Ford after working there for 33 years. He enjoyed being active with many veterans’ organizations. Stephen was a past commander of VFW Post 1662, Amherst, Current District 9 Chaplin and the Military Order of Cooties. He was very proud of his Marine Corps Flag. He helped his fellow veterans at any cost.
He is survived by his son Stephen J. Whelan II; sister and best friend Teresa and Mike Sealy and his grandsons Stephen J. III and Allen Chase Whelan.
A celebration of life will be at the VFW Post 1662, 165 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst, Ohio 44001, Sunday, January 22, 2022, from 2 to 5 PM. The service will be at 3:30 PM.
