Marie D. Cunningham, 90, Devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother

Photo of Marie D. Cunningham Marie D. “Dolores” Cunningham (nee Dumont), age 90, of Lorain, passed away at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake, Ohio during the early morning hours of Wednesday February 15th, 2023. She had been experiencing declining health since August of 2022.

Dolores was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on March 15, 1932 and attended school at the Westford Academy.

She moved to Avon, Ohio in 1958; in 1959 she and her husband re-located to Lorain where they built a new home which remained her residence until the time of her passing.

Dolores was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and dedicated every possible moment to maintaining a relative presence in the lives of her family members. In her free time she enjoyed working in her yard.

She is survived by sons Kevin and Corey Cunningham both of Lorain, along with daughters Cheryl Polevchak (Mike) of Louisville, Kentucky, Kim Cunningham of Lorain, and Shelly Winger (John) of Kathleen, Georgia. Additional survivors include eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and sister Joyce Norton who lives in Massachusetts.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years Leonard J. Cunningham in 2006, parents Alfred and Yvonne (nee Tousignant) Dumont and sister Beverly Dunigan.

Graveside services will be conducted for Dolores’ family in Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Jamie Stewart, Spiritual Care Specialist for the Hospice of the Western Reserve will officiate.
