Charles Ellis Mitchell, 67, Enjoyed Playing Cards

Photo of Charles Ellis Mitchell The Lord called on Charles Ellis Mitchell, 67, of Lorain, Ohio unexpectedly Thursday the 16th of February.

Born August 1, 1956, to Andy Anderson and Annie Belle Mitchell in Flint, Michigan; he was the second eldest of 8 children.

Graduating from Beecher High school in 1974, Charles went on to have 4 children and spent his time traveling and working different factory jobs along the way. In the 1990’s he settled in Cleveland, Ohio before moving to Lorain in 2008 to be closer with his nephew Brian (Cristina) Mitchell. He enjoyed spending time with his 4 great nephews Aaron, Emeka, Lil Brian, and Mateo; also, his great niece Sherida Mitchell. Charles was a very important piece in their lives.

He enjoyed spending his time playing cards with his many friends while listening to music and cracking jokes. Charles loved to be around his family, always filled with great positive energy, all those who were lucky enough to meet him called him “Unc”. He was family to many around him. His memory will forever live on in our hearts.

Charles is survived by his children, Eugene and Jasmine Mitchell both of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and Autry (Maggie) Mitchell of Anderson, Alabama, 6 grandchildren with one on the way; brothers Elmer (Sharon) Mitchell, Damon Mitchell, and Dion Brown; and his sister Aaminah (Abdul Rauf) Ussabur; many nieces and nephews; and lots of great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both his parents; son James Mitchell; brothers Marcus and Brian Mitchell; and his sister Sherida Mitchell.

His family will receive friends Monday, February 27th, 2023, from 11am- 2pm service at Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 E. 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio 44055. Repass Memorial dinner to follow after.
