Arlene M. Johnson, 81, Enjoyed Puzzles and Bird Watching

Arlene was born in Hershey, Pennsylvania on April 11, 1941 and was a 1959 graduate of Myerstown High School. She married the love of her life, Robert A. Johnson, Jr. in 1963 and moved to Ohio shortly thereafter.
A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Arlene’s family remained the primary focus of her attention throughout her life. In her free time she enjoyed solving word puzzles, as well as spending time in her backyard watching and feeding the birds. She also enjoyed meeting the challenges of jigsaw puzzles with her best friend, Betty.
Arlene was a long-time member of the Church on the North Coast.
Survivors include her son Robert A. Johnson, III of Brownhelm Township, and daughters Sherry Smith (Keith) of South Amherst and Susan Holowecky of Amherst. She also leaves grandchildren Charles Smith, Joshua Castle (Andy), Justin Smith, Courtney Clark (Jacob), Rachel Andrew (Forrest) and Brandi Kessler (Ricky), and great grandchildren Christopher and Jamison Clark. Additional survivors include her brother Larry Leininger (Shirlene) of Myerstown, Pennsylvania and sisters Jean Janssen of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, and Nancy Blatt of Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband of forty-one years Robert A. Johnson, Jr. in 2004 and parents Ammon and Josephine (nee Miller) Oberholtzer.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Church on the North Coast 4125 North Leavitt Road, Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the church. Reverend Troy Thompson, Senior Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
