Angel Luis Cabranes, 86, Found Great Joy in Volunteer Work

He was born on September 22, 1936 in Corozal, Puerto Rico.
He came to Lorain in 1954. He worked at Ford’s Lorain Assembly Plant, retiring in 1990 after 30 years of service. He was a member of UAW Local 425.
He found great joy in volunteer work. Angel was an extremely active member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. He delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Orthodox Church bingo, Puerto Rican Home, and many other civic organizations. Angle was the recipient of the 2011 Distinguished Hispanic Ohioan Award for his many years of service to his church and community.
Angel is survived by sons, Adam and Alvin (Sharon) Cabranes; daughters, Melissa (Philip) Amato and Maritza (Eric) Denman; grandchildren, Jillian (Kevin) Cesear, Eric (Jessica) Cabranes, Cara (A-J) Amato-Wright, Nicholas (Stacey) Amato, Alexis Cabranes and Loren Denman; great grandchildren, Leo, Mila and Nathan Cesear; brothers, Manny (Cheryl) Alvarez and Jose (Denise) Cabrera, and sisters Hilda Robado, Carmen Villareal, Maria Matos and Provedencia Cabrera.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Martha (née Rivas) Cabranes in 2013; parents Evaristo and Leonor; sister Rita Pantajo; brother Alfredo Cabrera and son-in-law Mark Amato.
The family would like to extend appreciation to the staff at Mercy New Life Hospice and Lorain Estates Assisted Living facility for their excellent care of our father.
His family will receive friends at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44055, Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 8:30 until 9:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Rev. Father William A. Thaden, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow At Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
Contributions can be made to the maintenance Fund at Sacred Heart Chapel.
