Paul F. Bransztet Sr., 100, World War II Army Air Corps Veteran

Photo of Paul F. Bransztet Sr. Paul F. Bransztet Sr., age 100, of Lorain, passed away with his family by his side on June 1, 2023, following a brief illness.

Born March 22, 1923, Paul was a lifelong resident of Lorain. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, serving as a Sargeant with the Air Transport Command based in Lae, New Guinea. Following his honorable discharge from the service, Paul was employed as a chemical operator at B.F. Goodrich for more than 32 years; he retired in 1985.

Paul was a gentle, caring, and compassionate soul, beloved by his family, who never met a stranger. He had a strong sense of duty and enjoyed woodworking, flower and vegetable gardening, painting, and amateur radio. Paul’s kindness and devotion to his family, especially his granddaughter, will always be remembered.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Julie “Jay” parents Walter and Caroline; and his siblings Leo, Helen, Martha, Regina, and Karl. He leaves behind his children, Paul Jr. and Jayne; his beloved granddaughter, Kimberly (Christopher); and many nephews and nieces.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, June 5, 2023, from 11 a.m. until the time of his Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. in St. Peter Parish - 3501 Oberlin Avenue with Reverend Craig Hovanec presiding. Burial will immediately follow in Calvary Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by Amvets Post # 32 of Elyria.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions in Paul’s memory to either the Freedom Alliance – Development Office, 22570 Markey Court, Suite 240, Dulles, VA 20166; or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.

The family would also like to thank the ICU doctors and staff at the Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital at Richard E. Jacobs Campus for the incredible care provided to Paul and the entire family.
