Medardo Sanchez-Valadez, 93, Known for His Boundless Energy

Photo of Medardo Sanchez-Valadez Medardo Sanchez-Valadez, age 93, of Lorain, passed away at Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital during the early morning hours of Sunday June 4, 2021 following a brief illness.

He was born in Guanajuato, Mexico on May 29, 1930; for the past seven years, Medardo had been splitting his residency equally between his native Mexico and Ohio.

He was a self-employed agriculturist who was known for his boundless energy which kept him perpetually active until the time of his passing. In his free time, Medardo enjoyed animals both big and small. He also possessed a thirst for learning and enjoyed listening and dancing to Mariachi music in his free time.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years Fortuna Sanchez-Manrique, sons Benjamin Sanchez, Jose A. Sanchez (Sandra), and Felipe Sanchez (Soyla), and daughters Matilde Sanchez, Alejandra Cuthbert (Brad), Angelica Sanchez, and Maria Hernandez (Manuel). He also leaves fourteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and brother Manuel Sanchez-Valadez.

Medardo was preceded in death by his father Benjamin Sanchez, mother Maria DeGracia Valadez, and brothers Felipe Sanchez-Valadez, and Ambrosio Sanchez-Valadez.

Friends may call Thursday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Additional visitation will take place Friday in Sacred Heart Chapel – 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain from 8:30 a.m. until the time of his Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Reverend William A. Thaden, Pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
