Charles P. Glass, 74, Enjoyed Spending Time With His Family

Chuck was born in Lorain on May 15, 1949 and had been a resident of Sheffield Township since 1982; he had previously resided in both Lorain and Columbus.

He was a graduate of Clearview High School and went on to earn an Associate of Arts Degree in Applied Science from Lorain County Community College. Chuck possessed a thirst for knowledge and continued to complete courses at both Baldwin-Wallace College and The Ohio State University for his own personal enrichment.

He was a long-time employee of the City of Lorain where he began working in the Electrical Department; he later transferred to the Water Department where he served as a meter reader until the time of his retirement. In those years Chuck walked thousands of miles and could, without hesitation, tell you where every street, avenue, boulevard, and court was located within the city.

Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family and walking in his free time. He was self taught in a variety of disciplines including computer construction and repair. He was also an avid reader with a special interest in the areas of math, physics, chemistry, and history.

Chuck is survived by his wife of forty-nine years Linda (nee Pennington), and daughters Carla Costilow (Matt) of Sheffield Township and Laura Kane (Greg) of Lorain. He also leaves grandchildren Sarah Smith (Corey), Clinton Simmons, III (Blair), Lyndsey Simmons (Jessee), Allison Simmons, Chris Kane (Shelby), Miranda Kane, Sean Kane, and Conner Kane, as well as great grandchildren Callan Smith, Audra Smith, Kelton Kane, and Atticus Rosa. Additional survivors include his sister Penny Lotko (Edward) of Sheffield Lake, Dennis Findley (Judy) of Vermilion, and Richard Glass (Sharon) of Amherst.

Chuck was preceded in death by his father Thomas Glass in 1995, mother Helen Glass (nee DeCarlo) in 2019, and brother Michael Glass in 2009.

The Glass Family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Mercy Health Cancer Center and Mercy New Life Hospice as well as a special acknowledgement to his Palliative Care Nurse Liz Carek for the exceptional care they provided throughout the course of Chuck’s illness.

Burial of Mr. Glass’s cremated remains will take place at Ridge Hill Memorial Park at a later date under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel.
