Stanley L. Wolak, 99, U.S. Army Veteran

Born in Everson, Pennsylvania, Mr. Wolak had been a resident of Lorain since 1950.
Stanley was a veteran of the United States Army where he fulfilled duty assignments as a Private First Class attached to the 342nd Armored Field Artillery Battalion in Central Europe. He was the recipient of the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, as well as the American Theater Ribbon, the World War II Victory Medal, and the United States Army Good Conduct Medal.
He was a long-time employee of the United States Steel Corporation where he began as a weigh man and later transitioned to the role of expediter. Stanley retired from the steel producer in 1986 following a career that spanned thirty-five years.
He was a parishioner of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Lorain, and was also a member of the United Polish Club of Lorain and Amvets Post # 47.
He is survived by his wife of seventy years Elizabeth (nee Jaworski), and daughters Karen Prendergast (Patrick) of Sheffield Village and Andrea Jones (Russell) of Bath Township. Additional survivors include his grandchildren Joseph, Stanley, Daniel, and Diana, great granddaughter Elizabeth,, brother Edward Wolak of Palmetto, Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews..
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Mary (nee Suchecka) Wolak, sisters Clara Lauterbach and Nellie Harper, and brothers Joseph, Victor, and Raymond Wolak.
The Wolak Family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers of the Avenue At North Ridgeville and the Hospice of the Western Reserve for the high level of care and compassion that they displayed during their care for Stanley. In addition, a special note of acknowledgement goes out to Doctors George Bescak, Theodore Pacheco, and Christopher Haas and their staffs for the unwavering care and support that they offered to both Stanley and his family during the course of Mr. Wolak's illness.
Please join Stanley�s family for the celebration of his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Friday August 4th in St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish � 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain. Reverend Neil G. Walters, Pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by Amvets Post # 32 of Elyria.
