Robert A. Casper, Jr., 81, Enjoyed Bird Watching and Photography

Photo of Robert A. Casper, Jr. Robert A. Casper, Jr., age 81 of Henrietta Township, passed away at Mercy New Life Hospice on the evening of Tuesday August 8, 2023, following an extended illness.

Bob was born in Elyria and was a graduate of Clearview High School where he was a member of the varsity football team. He had been a resident of Henrietta for the past fifty years.

Bob was employed as a chemical operator at the B.F. Goodrich Corporation in Avon Lake; he retired in 1992 following a career that spanned a quarter century with the company.

In his free time, he enjoyed bird watching and photography. Bob was also passionate about fishing and golf. An avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes football program, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and, most especially, his grandchildren.

Bob was a fifty-three-year member and former officer of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1442 in Amherst; he was also affiliated with the VFW Post 1662 Auxiliary.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years Pat (nee Hamilton), and sons Tom Popa (Donna), Brian Casper (Courtney), and Scott Casper (Brigid). He also leaves grandchildren Ashley Schuster (Jacob), McKenna Sklarek (Cole), Braeden Casper, and Chelsea Casper, along with great grandchildren Lucas Schuster, Paisley Schuster, and Noah Schuster. Additional survivors include his brothers Gary Casper (Kathleen), James Casper (Sandy), sister Pamela Rihel (Eddie), and a host of nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his father Robert A. Casper, Sr., mother Dorothy M. Casper (nee Ryan), great grandson Nathaniel Schuster, and brother Tom Casper.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of his funeral service at 6:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Reverend Gerald J. Keller, Pastor Emeritus of St. Adalbert Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will take place later in Calvary Cemetery.
