Joyce Ann Rhodes, 71, Chairwoman of the Lorain Winterfest Celebration

Photo of Joyce Ann Rhodes Joyce Ann Rhodes, (nee Jacobs) age 71, of Lorain, passed away at the Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital on the morning of Saturday March 23, 2024 following a brief illness.

Born in Lakewood, she was a graduate of Brunswick High School.

For the past year she had been employed as the office manager for Infinity Schools. Prior to that, she worked for Spectrum Catering as well as at the Lorain Palace Theater.

Joyce was proud of Lorain and remained extremely active in her community right up until the time of her passing. She was the chairwoman of the Lorain Winterfest Celebration and was instrumental in coordinating the multitude of events that highlighted the observance including the annual parade, magic show, children�s story time, and Secret Santa Workshop. In addition, she sat on the organizing committee of the International Tree and Train Show held yearly at the Black River Landing, and was a long-time member of the Lorain Travel and Tourism Commission. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post # 30 of Lorain.

Joyce leaves her husband Robert E. Rhodes, Jr., daughter Morgan Chambers (Nick,) and step-son Robert E. �Rob� Rhodes, III. Additional survivors include her granddaughter Mahle, brothers Michael Jacobs and James Jacobs (Melissa), sisters-in-law Mary Ellen Beekman, Judy Burning and Peggy Ann Hopkins and brothers-in-law Kenny Rhodes.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father Richard D. Jacobs, mother Kathleen Jacobs (nee Peters), sisters Karen Papushak and Rita Jacobs, and brother-in-law Tommy Rhodes.
