James S. Horak, 52, Enjoyed Working on Automobiles

Photo of James S. Horak James S. Horak, age 52, of Lorain, passed away at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation’s Main Campus on the evening of Tuesday April 16, 2024 following an illness of three years.

Born in Elyria, James attended Elyria West High School. He had been a resident of Lorain for the past two years coming from Vermilion.

James had been employed for sixteen years as a delivery specialist for the Carter Lumber Company.

In his free time he liked working on automobiles as well enjoying the companionship of his two pet Rottwielers.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years Amy (nee Costello) along with children Damian Horak, Jourdan Horak ( Steve Kalapis), Joshua Horak, and James D. Horak all of Lorain. Additional survivors include his grandson Damian Horak, Jr., father Augustus “Gus” Horak of Sheffield Township, sister Carolyn, and nieces Maggie and Ashley.

James was preceded in death by his mother Joanne Horak (nee Blackstone) maternal grandfather Homer Blackstone, maternal grandmother Margaret Blackstone, and uncle Terry Blackstone.

Visitation will be Saturday April 20th from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway, Lorain.
