Mary J. Campo, 93, Loved Spending Time with Family and Friends

Born in Lorain on December 4, 1930, Mary was a graduate of Lorain High School. Formerly employed in cafeteria services for the Lorain Public School System, she retired from that endeavor and transitioned to her most gratifying role as a devoted wife and mother.

She was active in the PTA while her sons were in attendance at Washington Avenue Elementary School and later became involved with the Athletic and Band Booster organizations at both Hawthorne Junior High and Admiral King High Schools.

A parishioner of St. Peter Parish in Lorain, Mary’s favorite things in life included spending time with family and friends as well as annual trips to Fort Lauderdale with her husband.

She is survived by sons Anthony “Tony” Campo (Allison) of Sheffield Village and Mark D. Campo (Tracy) with whom she made her home in Avon. Additional survivors include grandchildren Matthew, Mark, Jr., Madison, and Anthony along with great grandchildren Evelyn, Porter, and Anthony, III.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Campo, parents Eugene and Mary (nee Carioci) DeMeis, and brothers Theodore and Robert DeMeis.

Visitation will be Thursday May 9th from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will begin with closing prayers offered in the funeral chapel at 10:30 a.m. om Friday May 10th. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter Parish – 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Reverend Craig M. Hovanec, Pastor of the parish will serve as celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
