Photo of MaryAnn Giamboi MaryAnn Giamboi, (nee Kachur), age 90, of Lorain, passed away peacefully at Mercy New Life Hospice on the morning of Saturday May 25, 2024.

Born in Indiana, Pennsylvania on March 25, 1934, MaryAnn was a graduate of Indiana High School.

At the age of eighteen, she moved to Lorain where she had secured employment as an administrative assistant at U.S. Steel Corporation’s Lorain-Cuyahoga Works.

In 1955 she met and married the love of her life, Frank, embarking on a marital voyage that spanned sixty-six years.

A woman of devout faith, she was extremely proud of her Byzantine heritage and traditions. Her first mission upon arriving in Lorain was to join a byzantine church. She became a parishioner of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church and immediately embarked on a fulfilling relationship as an active member and contributor there; that devotion spanned more than seven decades and found her serving the parish in a multitude of capacities including church recorder, choir member, and kitchen volunteer. She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, the Ladies Guild, and the Greek Catholic Union. In addition, she supported St Nicholas Byzantine Catholic School as room mother, kitchen helper and lunch server. She enjoyed cooking for the priests and nuns that served the school. MaryAnn was never bashful to proclaim that she considered the church as her home away from home.

MaryAnn dedicated her life to God, the church and her family, and friends. Often described as an

Angel of Mercy by those who knew her well, her greatest enjoyment came from serving as a selfless and tireless wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, caregiver, friend, confidante and prayer warrior.

When not engaged in activities at the church, Maryann enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping, and hosting friends and family functions.

She is survived by sons Frank of Lorain, and Michael (Michelle) of Lake Milton, Ohio, along with daughters Karen Berga (Rod) of Vermilion, and Nancy Mullins of Avon. She also leaves grandchildren Gabrielle (Ryan), Angela, Mary (Tyler), Jake, Chris, Alec (Zoe), Julia, and Monica, great grandchildren Layla, Mia, and Lily, brother Charles Kachur (Georgeanne) of Indiana, Pennsylvania, three nephews, and a long list of cousins.

MaryAnn was preceded in death by her husband Frank C. Giamboi in 2021. father Charles A. Kachur in 1946, and mother Anna Kachur (nee Totin) in 1999.
