Photo of Amy Lynne Schmidt Amy Lynne Schmidt, age 52, of Lorain, passed away at University Hospitals Cleveland on the afternoon of Friday July 12, 2024 following a valiant battle with cancer.

Born in Lorain on August 21, 1971, Amy was a 1989 graduate of Lorain High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society.

Known for the room brightening smile that she perpetually wore, she had been employed as a medical secretary at Community Health Partners as well as its successor, Mercy Health Lorain Hospital for more than seventeen years prior to being forced to retire due to her illness.

A parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, she was heavily involved with Power 4 Pink – a Lorain County non-profit organization committed to helping breast cancer patients with the financial needs of cancer care while simultaneously providing a variety of other resources during their cancer journey.

In her free time Amy enjoyed reading novels as well magazines and periodicals pertaining to current events and pop culture. In addition, she enjoyed supporting the needy during the holidays as well as purchasing Christmas gifts for her own family and friends.

Survivors include her mother Kathleen Loescher (nee Kraly) and her husband Bob, father Thomas Schmidt (Debbie), brothers Paul Loescher (Val), Bob Loescher (Dawn), and Tom Schmidt (Sue), along with sisters Sue Turton (Bob) and Barb Ault (Harold). Additional survivors include eight nephews, eight nieces, twelve great nephews, and ten great nieces.

Amy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents George and Rose (nee Adamcek) Kraly, paternal grandparents John and Mary (nee Bodnar) Schmidt, and great niece Delany Ault,

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway, Lorain where funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Mr. Joe Conley officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
