Frances Josefa Ortiz, 84, Enjoyed Crocheting and Knitting

Photo of Frances Josefa Ortiz Frances “Tita” Josefa Ortiz passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 1, 2024, in Lorain, Ohio.

She was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico on October 15, 1939, to Simon Vazquez Ortiz and Mercedes Ortiz Alvarado. Frances lived a life filled with love, kindness, and devotion to her faith.

Frances was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel and dedicated her life to worshiping the Lord. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, creating beautiful blankets and handmade gifts for her family, who will forever treasure these tokens of her love.

She is survived by her brothers Juan Saul (Nilda) Ortiz and Deacon Rocky (Sonia) Ortiz along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her dearly.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Mercedes, and brothers Juan de Dios (Blanca) Vazquez and Juan Calixto (Dolores) Ortiz.

Her family will receive friends on Monday, August 5, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Friends may also call Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Father William A. Thaden, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

Frances' family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and medical staff at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home who provided her with compassion and care during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Sacred Heart Chapel Memorial Fund for the Homeless.
