Jack P. Parker, Jr., 71, Enjoyed the Outdoors

Jack was born in Lorain on May 7, 1953 and had been a resident of Elyria since 2017. He was a 1972 graduate of Lorain High School where he had been a member of the Steel men’s varsity wrestling team. Following commencement, he attended classes at Lorain County Community College.
Jack had been employed as a laborer with Local 758 of Lorain as well as Local 310 of Cleveland. During his twenty-six year affiliation with the union, he worked on a number of projects throughout northern Ohio including the Cleveland Browns’ home stadium, now known as Huntington Bank Field. He retired in 2000.
Jack was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and had been on the road of sobriety since 1986.
In his free time he enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, and spending time at the beach. A lover of dogs and, especially, German Shepherds, he found enjoyment in solving math challenges as well as sitting on his porch. Jack was also devoted to wellness and could often be found walking or riding his bicycle.
He is survived by children Megan Parker of Lorain, Melissa Moos (Mark) of Amherst, Jack P. Parker, III of Elyria, Ryan Parker of Elyria, Connor Parker of Elyria, Kevin Parker of Lorain and Kylie Parker of Lorain. He also leaves grandchildren Brayden Priebe, Maddox Moos, Grady Moos, Makenna Moos, Cora Moos, Hazel Moos, McKinley Parker, and Delaney Parker. Additional survivors include brothers Terrance Terry Parker of Lorain, Michael Parker (Diana) of Litchfield, sisters Joanie Ortiz of Lorain and Patty Brodka (Pete) of Sheffield Lake, along with former wives Diane Giran and Carrie Parker both of Lorain and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his father Jack P. Parker, Sr. in 1996, mother Mary Ann Parker (nee Roberts) in 1990, brother Richard Parker in 2012, sisters Jacqueline Missy Smink in 2017 and Treasure Rowe in 2022, and nephews Jimmy Pihlblad in 1986 and Travis Parker in 2011.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services at 7:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Reverend Craig M. Hovanec, pastor of both St. Peter Parish and Nativity BVM Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will take place Friday in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
