Susan Elizabeth Smith, 84, Proud of Her Hungarian Heritage

Susan was born in Lorain on July 29, 1940 and was a graduate of Lorain High School. Following her commencement, she entered Kent State University where she subsequently earned her Bachelor of Science degree.
Proud of her Hungarian heritage, Susan grew up attending the Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ in Lorain from birth through her college years. She and her late husband, Donald, also celebrated their marriage ceremony there.
Susan had most recently been employed by the Greater Cleveland Volunteer’s where she served in the non-profit’s public relations department until the time of her retirement in 2017. Previously, she worked in a similar capacity at Sea World in Aurora, Ohio. From 1981 through 1988 she also owned Ball and Skein a popular needlepoint and yarn shop serving hobbyists in Hudson, Ohio.
Susan was gifted in the arts of both knitting and needlepoint. She also found relaxation in books and was an avid reader. In addition, she was gifted musically possessing a beautiful singing voice as well as the ability to play the guitar, piano, and accordion.
She is survived by sons Michael Smith (Patricia) and Bruce Smith both of Lakewood. She also leaves grandsons William and Harry Smith both residing in Chicago along with her brother Robert Molnar of Sylvania, Ohio.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband Donald in 2013, father William Molnar, and mother Erma Molnar (nee Nanasy).
Friends may call Friday January 24th from 3:00 p.m. until the time of sharing and reflection at 4:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway, Lorain. She will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
Susan’s family encourages contributions in her memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, one of the leading organizations in the country for funding research of Lewy Body Syndrome.
