Eileen A. Tomlin, 76, Skilled in the Art of Needlepoint

Photo of Eileen A. Tomlin Eileen A. Tomlin, age 76, of Lorain, passed away peacefully at Mercy New Life Hospice on the afternoon of Monday January 6, 2025.

She was born in Lorain on December 15, 1948 and spent nearly thirty years as a resident of Avon prior to re-locating to Lorain in 1977. Following her graduation from Avon High School, she enrolled at Lorain County Community College where she received her Associates of Science Degree.

Eileen had been employed as a machine operator for the Thogus Products Company of Avon Lake for fifteen years prior to her retirement.

A parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lorain, she was skilled in the art of needlepoint and enjoyed solving jigsaw puzzles in her free time. She also loved to bake and those who knew her considered her recipes for pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie amongst her specialties.

Eileen was proud to have overcome a previous battle with cancer and remained steadfast in her past four years of remission. She was a diehard fan of the Miami Dolphins as well as a loyal follower of singer Neil Diamond having attended multiple concert performances of the pop vocalist.

She is survived by sisters Patricia Tomlin and Maryann Huerner both of Lorain, along with nephew Mark Tomlin (Christa) and great nephew Joshua Tomlin also both of Lorain.

Eileen was preceded in death by her father Maynard Tomlin, Sr., mother Edna Tomlin (nee Klingshirn), brother Maynard Tomlin, Jr. and niece Melinda Tomlin.

Family graveside services will be conducted at St. Mary Cemetery in Avon, Ohio. Contributions in her memory are encouraged to either the Second Harvest Food Bank or the Wounded Warrior Project.
