Sophie Holowecki, 91, Enjoyed Spending Time with Family and Friends
Sophie Holowecki (nee Bryja), 91, of Lorain, died peacefully on Sunday January 12, 2025 at her home.
She was born June 28, 1933 in Nowy Targ, Poland to Stanislaw & Katarzyna Bryja and had been a resident of Lorain since 1980.
Sophie was a member of St Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Lorain. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, and cooking Polish food.
She is survived by her children: Grazyna “Grace” Krzysik (Henryk) of Lorain and Stanislaw Siuba (Alina) of Chicago; grandchildren: Monika Krzysik-Hang (Bora Hang) and Aneta and David Siuba and great grandchildren: Adrian & Andrzej Hang. She was preceded in death by her husband John Holowecki, her parents, grandson Rafal T. Krzysik, sisters Helena & Anna and brothers Stanislaw, Joseph, Leon, Andrzej and Wladyslaw.
Her family will receive friends Thursday January 16, 2025 from 4:00-6:00 pm at Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Additional visitation will be held Friday January 17, 2025 from 9:30 am until the time of the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Dr, Lorain. Father Neil Walters, pastor, will preside. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
