Robert C. Semrau, 80, Avid League Bowler

Photo of Robert C. Semrau Robert C. “Bob” Semrau, 80, of Lorain, died Wednesday January 15, 2025 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home.

He was born October 13, 1944 in Buffalo, New York to Charles & Pauline Semrau. He moved to Ohio as a teenager and attended Elyria High School. Bob went on to work at the Ford Assembly Plant in Lorain ultimately retiring after 30 years of service.

Bob was a member of UAW Local #425 retirees and a social member of both VFW Post #451 of Lorain and AMVETS Post #22 of Vermilion.

Bob was an avid league bowler and had two 300 games to his credit. He loved all classic rock music, but his all-time favorite was Bob Seger. He collected eagles in the form of statues, pictures, or any other configuration. You could find him every Saturday watching the Three Stooges and old westerns on tv. However, he was most happy when he was spending time with his family and always kept God in his heart.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years Karen (nee Moore), children: Terry Howell (Karen), Troy Howell (Nilsa) and Tracy Howell (Linda); grandchildren: Nick Summers (Anna), Sandra Remo (Austin), Troy Howell (Danielle), Derek Howell (Jessica), Stephanie Barnett (Jordan), Justin Howell (Kaylin), Ryan Howell (Elyssa), Cameron Howell (Kaylee) and Aaron Howell (Hank) and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Kenneth & Charles Semrau.

The family will receive friends Sunday January 19, 2025 from 2:00-5:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday January 20, 2025 at 11:00 am in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
