Carol J. Hartman, 70, Enjoyed Trips to Amish Country

Photo of Carol J. Hartman Carol J. Hartman, (nee Hughes), age 70, of Lorain, passed away at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home during the early morning hours of Thursday January 23, 2025.

Born in Cleveland on October 31, 1954 Carol had been a resident of Lorain County for the majority of her life.

A graduate of Brookside High School, she had been employed as a Peer Advocate at Gathering Hope House in Sheffield Township.

Carol’s family served as the center of her universe and she cherished every moment she was able to spend with her children and grandchildren.

When not engaged with them, Carol enjoyed trips to Amish Country and attending garage sales. Additional interests included 35 mm photography, and dining out with the Blue Sky Restaurant serving as one of her favorites destinations.

She is survived by sons John M. Hartman and Brian P. Hartman both of Lorain, grandchildren Cameron and Arianna Hartman, sisters Elida Watchorn (Michael) Jane Watchorn (David) and Betty Hughes all of Lorain, along with brothers Robert Hughes and William Hughes also both of Lorain.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband John P. “Jack” Hartman in 2019, and by her parents Robert and Mary (nee Whittaker) Hughes.

Graveside services under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel will be conducted in Elmwood Cemetery (640 North Ridge Road – Lorain) at 2:00 p.m. on Friday January 31, 2025. Please meet at the cemetery.
